Today I continued in Matthew chapter 5:17-20 regarding Christ and the Law. While it proved to be a difficult passage to both cover and preach, I enjoyed the challenge required to develop this passage into sermonic form. Honestly, I have a deeper respect and appreciation for those preachers and expositors who have successfully travailed and journeyed through Christ’s great Sermon, recorded in Matthew chapters 5 through 7.
The following is my sermon outline:

Sermon Text: Matthew 5:17-20
- CHRIST’S BELIEF ABOUT THE WORD
- Jesus believed that the Word of God is Inspired.
- Jesus believed that the Word of God is Eternal. (Vss. 17 & 18)
- CHRIST’S BEHAVIOR TOWARD THE WORD
- Christ fulfills His Word through Prefigures
- Christ fulfills His Word through Prophecies
- Christ fulfills His Word through Precepts
- CHRIST’S BURDEN FOR THE WORD
- He wants us to practice it (Verse 19a)
- He wants us to proclaim it (Verse 19b)
- He wants us to perfect it (Verse 20)
